Just astonishing! We had an electrical problem, neither starter nor leisure batteries were not charging, and we called in lunchtime on a Saturday on the off chance that someone was available to take a quick look for us. A pair of splendid men instantly took a look, spent about 30 minutes analysing the problem and fixing it for us, and charged us virtually nothing (about the price of two coffees from Starbucks!). And all the while being very pleasant and cheerful. If I could give 1000 stars I would.

From the minute we arrived, a welcome, never actually ever using a narrowboat on the canal, everything explained by a amazing team, showed us how to use the first lock, and then we were off, only a day boat rental, but what a great day, forget spending 100s on theme parks etc, everyone should do this, once after a hour getting used to how it all goes and controls, you just get better and better, great team from Haywood can't express how could they are, I seriously recommend if you want a family day of memories, book a day out on the canal.

Booked Golden Ghyll for October half term and can’t thanks these people enough. Nothing was too much trouble. The acceleration cable broke and they can straight out & replaced it. Right from booking, they replied to emails promptly. I want thank Adam, Kev & David for being so understanding and kind.. Definitely recommend this place

The staff are very helpful. The boat we had grey goose. Beds comfortable, galley very well equipped. Front shower not working very well plus had a leak on to the carpet. Pitty this was not checked before hand over. All their boats do not run on gas heating. This one does not. In the back cabin you get deisel fume and noise if left on overnight.

Was a great day out. Was really simple to prebook the canal boat. We arrived to be instantly greeted by Ivan. He had given us a very informative brief, making sure we fully understood before he then set us on our way to venture alone. The route was stunning and was enjoyed by all the kids from start to finish. They especially loved opening and closing the locks along the route. Would definitely recommend Anglo Welsh for a great day out, and I would definitely book again.

We hired Pegasus for a week at the end of February. Dave at the yard was very welcoming and knowledgeable. We were 3 old blokes and the layout with 3 comfy doubles and 2 great shower rooms worked perfectly. The best showers I've ever had on a narrowboat. The boat was superb and never missed a beat. Log burner very efficient and we just mainly used fallen wood picked up on the canalside. We went up the Caldon and encountered a previously unreported blockage. We got the boat free but called for help to turn the boat. We know our skill limits! Kevin and colleague arrived quickly and helped turn the boat and get us on our way. I recommend Anglo Welsh and Great Haywood in particular without hesitation. A proper boat company, a proper boatyard with great practical team. Thanks guys for a great holiday.

We (2 people, 1 dog) have just returned from a weeks cruise from Great Haywood (50 foot, cruiser stern). January cruising is cold and muddy which we fully expected, the flooding stopped us from travelling some directions and there were a couple of closures around because of CRT works but we got far enough without being impeded so it made no difference to our holiday. What a fantastic company to hire from, from the first call and using the website to picking the boat up. There is a secure place to keep your car while you’re on holiday, you are given a folder full of instructions and emergency contact numbers during the hand over brief. They are so helpful, friendly and go the extra mile to ensure you are happy when you pick up the boat and when you hand it back. We would definitely use them again and definitely recommend them to our friends to book a holiday.

Fantastic day out on one of their day boats called Daphne. Had around 6 hours to tootle as far as we could get and back again, and we had brilliant fun. Excellent safety chat and lesson from David at the start to get us on our way. Bring a picnic for a relaxing stop on the canal side. Can't recommend this enough if you fancy a taster. We will be back for more.

We took out a boat for a weekend and had a great time. The staff were helpful and detailed in their induction talk and the boat was well equipped. We made it to Fradley before turning around and going to Weston and back before we returned the boat, peaceful canal and I would recommend going South.

Had an a amazing day out on the self drive canal boat. It's great that they are only half the length of a standard boat. Really easily maneuvered for a total novice. Kids l9ved helping with the locks etc. The boating community on the canal were all really friendly and helpful too. Staff on the phones when booking were great and helpful and the staff at great Haywood were brilliant too. The guy there took us down to first lock and showed us the ropes and then left us to it. Really great value for £99 for the day. Would highly recommend this company for a great day out.
